Joseph “Joe” Lucey

Joseph “Joe” M. Lucey, 78 of Galena, IL passed away Friday June, 2, 2017 peacefully with his companion/caretaker Delilah M. “Dede” Haas by his side. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may gather after Noon until time of service. Burial will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. He was born October 2, 1938 in Fremont, NE the only child of Charles and Marie (Beatty) Lucey. He later moved to the Chicago area. In his early years Joe spent his time delivering newspapers, then went onto work at a printing shop. He then began his own career developing a printing press supply company, called JM Graphics. A business Joe maintained most of his adult life. Joe moved to Galena about twenty years ago after retiring. He then worked part time for Eagle Ridge Resort as a bell man and at Tri-State Auto Auction in Cuba City, WI. Joe had a great love of all of God’s birds and animals, but had a special love of dogs. His hobbies included collecting model trains, old movies and music. He was a lifetime Moose Lodge member as well as a member of the Jaycees. He is survived by his two sons, Robert and William (Jeannie), two grandchildren, Kelly and Amanda, his companion, Delilah “Dede” Haas and his very best friends from childhood, Sam (Nancy) Sciortino. He was preceded in death by his parents. A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque for all of their love and care of Joe. “God Bless You All”.
