William “Bill” Peters, 68 of Galena, IL passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at Unity Point Finley Hospital, Dubuque, IA. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. Burial will be at a later date. He was born August 1, 1953, in Dubuque, IA the son of Charles and Helen “Marcella” (Powers) Peters. Bill was united in marriage to Bonnie Symons on December 6, 1975, at the United Methodist Church, Galena. He started working as a caretaker for Greenwood Cemetery with his uncle Chalmers at the age of sixteen. He just finished his 52^nd year there prior to his passing.  Bill spent his time fishing, hunting, playing baseball, and just enjoying life. He loved a good yard sale or auction and was always looking to find that next great item. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. Bill will be missed by his family and those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, two sons, Joshua and Steve, twin grandsons, Robert and Jacob, a brother, Charles, and a sister, Karen Freese. He was preceded in death by his parents.
