Thomas A. “Tom” Cunningham, age 73, most recently of Galena, IL passed away suddenly at his home on December 3, 2022. Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday January 28, 2023, from 3 to 5 PM at the Galena Territory Owners, Club Social Hall, 2000 Territory Drive, Galena, IL 61036. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Tom moved as a young boy to New Jersey, where he grew up. A bit of a renaissance man, Tom was a very capable city planner, attorney, artist, and writer. He was devoted to his wife of thirty-three years Susan Lipnick, and their daughter, Kyla M. Cunningham, both of whom survive. A founding shareholder of the St. Louis law firm of Cunningham, Vogel, and Rost, P. C., Tom moved to the Galena area in 2010. Semi-retirement beckoned, allowing Tom to develop skills in prairie and savanna restoration for the Galena Area Land Enthusiasts and the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation and on Susan’s and his own property.
