Terri Lee Slaughter, 70 of Galena, IL passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at Luther Manor, Dubuque, IA. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Burial will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. She was born November 4, 1948, in Michigan the daughter of Wesley and Lucille Brown. Terri received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1985 from Loyola University and later returned to Loyola School of Social Work. In 1988 she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Terri worked in Chicago as a nurse and later as a social worker until her retirement. She was united in marriage to William Slaughter on August 10, 1983, and he survives. After moving to Galena, she was very active in Safe Haven Humane Society, Elizabeth, IL serving as past-president. Terri loved her dogs, music and the arts. She is survived by her husband, William, one sister, Jean (Mark) Jensen, a brother, Rick (Anita) Brown, two step-daughters, Tracy Trelstad and Wendy Slaughter, one step-son, Jeffrey (Kori) Slaughter, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two nephews, Shawn and Kevin. She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-daughter, Christy Musson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dubuque.
