Simon Bernstein, 70, of Galena, IL passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at Mercy One, Dubuque, IA. In accordance with state and federal guidance on gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be conducting public services at this time. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born Aril 26, 1950, in Chicago, IL the son of and Alan and Beatrice (Mendelsohn) Bernstein. Simon graduated from the Chicago National College of Naprapathy in 1988. He was united in marriage to Pam Bernstein on February 16, 1980, in Chicago. Simon was a practicing naprapath and made house calls in the Galena area. Upon retirement, he worked part-time as a driver for Jo Daviess County Transit. He especially enjoyed the young people who rode on his bus. Simon served on the board of the Galena Public Library and the Restoration Advisory Board. He is survived by his wife, sister Joan Krawitz, two nieces Sandra Krawitz and Reneé (Mike) Kosiark, and great-niece and nephew Maya and Ryan Kosiarek. Memorials may be given to the Natural Resources Defense Council in his memory.
