Shirley L. (Strittmatter) Bautsch of Spring, TX formerly of Galena, IL, and Ely, MN passed away August 23, 2021. A committal service will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born May 9, 1943, in Biloxi, MS the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Schleicher) Strittmatter. Shirley graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1961. She was united in marriage to Richard C. Bautsch on August 30, 1968, in Lancaster, WI and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2000. Shirley enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, bird watching, playing bingo, and watching westerns. She was a member of the Red Hatters in Ely, MN. She is survived by three daughters, Patty (David) Murphy, of Spring TX, Janice (Terry) Ricke, and Teresa (Donovan) Coffey, both of East Dubuque, IL, one son, Scott (Dinah) Bautsch, of East Dubuque, IL, three stepdaughters, Kelly (Gene) Noel, of Surprise, AZ, Cindy Glesne, of New Diggings, WI and Neva (David) Schmid, of Galena, a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Bautsch, of Bellevue, IA, her grandchildren, Mitchell Murphy, Ross (Katie) Murphy, Emily (Matt) Tyler, Kristina (Zach) McCullough, Elizabeth (Matt) Greene, Natalie Ricke, and Kayleigh Folks, her step-grandchildren, Michelle (Blake) Wand, Daniel (Amy) Noel, Shawn (Sarah) Noel and Brent Gerlach, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Thomas L. Bautsch, and her in-laws, Charles and Lucille Bautsch. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Patty Murphy for the wonderful care given to mom.
