Rose Marie Hess was born on June 10, 1949, daughter of Glenn and Ruth Brotzman. She resided in Galena, Illinois, her whole life. She graduated from Galena High School in 1967. She furthered her education obtaining a certificate as a Key Punch Operator in Chicago, Illinois. She married the love of her life David Hess, November 24, 1968. After 30 years of dedicated service, Rose retired from Honeywell Microswitch in 2014.

Rose fulfilled her dream to be a mother and a grandmother. Her family was her biggest love and joy in life. She never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s sports events, musicals, or milestones how big or small.  Near or far she will always be our biggest fan. Her grandchildren loved having their special night at grandma’s. They enjoyed trips to the store, going out to eat, visiting friends, mini vacations to visit Aunt Trece.  Rosie’s unconditional love and kindness is the greatest gift bestowed upon anyone who knew her.  Rose was blessed to have an amazing group of friends. She enjoyed outings and lunch with her three amigos.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; a daughter, Patrice Hess, of East Peoria, Illinois; a son, Nick (Hope) Hess, of Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Landon, Caleb, August, Emmett and Emma Hess; her parents, Glenn and Ruth Brotzman of Galena; a brother, Mike (Cathy) Brotzman; sisters Pam Brotzman and Cindy Barry; two sisters-in-law, Rose Steuart and Rose Hess; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters Doris and Deb; a brother in infancy; in-laws, Dale and Dorothy Hess; and brothers-in-law, Jim Hess and Hank Steuart.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Galena Police, EMS, and Midwest Medical Center.
