Ronald “Ron” D. Sproule
Ronald “Ron” Dale Sproule, 72 of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM, Wednesday, June 28 2017 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Cremation rites have been accorded. He was born June 11, 1945 in Galena the son of Cyrus and Mildred (Wachter) Sproule. Ron graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1963. He was united in marriage to Linda Bennett on July 31, 1965 in Galena and she survives. Ron was a business owner for forty-two years owning and operating Ron’s BP, Ron’s Oil Company and served as an Amoco jobber. He enjoyed street rods, camping and motorcycles. Ron was a lifetime member of National Street Rod Association. He is survived by his wife Linda, two daughters, Rhonda (Barry) Wasson of Galena and Pam (Sam) Galvan of St. Charles, IL, four grandchildren, Chase and Drew Wasson, Natalie and Max Galvan, a sister, Genieve Wienen, a sister in-law, Virginia Sproule. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ray and Wayne Sproule, a brother in-law, Glenn Wienen, one sister in-law, JoAnn Sproule. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Schultheis, Dr. Joseph, Midwest Medical Therapy and for all the support from family and friends.
