Richard “Dick” Eisbach, 86, Galena, formerly of Byron, MN passed away

January 17, 2024, surrounded by his wife, Geraldine, his brother John, and sister-in-law Ginger. A family gathering and celebration of life is being planned for later this year. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. His final months were spent at home in his cabin that he and his brother John built together on the  family’s land called Wooded Wonderland in Galena, IL. He was born March 30, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of John A. Sr. and Lois S. (Keskitalo) Eisbach. Dick was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1958 to 1964. He was a Weapons Control Systems Mechanic, headquartered at Lowry Airforce Base, Colorado. Dick also served as a technical training supervisor and instructor in the Air Force. He was then employed by IBM until his retirement. Upon retirement, he moved to his cabin in the woods in Galena. He enjoyed spending his days at the sawmill with his brother John. Dick enjoyed classical music, loved to sing and sip a good glass of wine, and of course loved his coffee. Spending time with and giving a hard time to his nieces and nephews always made Dick laugh. Dick is survived by his wife, Geraldine, their three children, Karl (Jan) Eisbach, Cheryl (Jerry) Kalasky, and Eric Eisbach; grandchildren, Erin (Clayton) Yank, Matthew Cruzan, Allison Eisbach, two brothers, David (Liyuza) Eisbach, and John (Ginger) Eisbach, and many nieces and nephews, and multiple great-nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Amanda Kevern for her care and support of Dick during this journey. Your care, compassion, and humor will never be forgotten. A special thank you to Father Barch for his assistance in helping Dick on his spiritual journey.

I am so sorry for your loss. Though I didn’t know Dick, I was a classmate of David and know the pain of losing a sibling. I will pray for you and hope your heavy hearts are soon lighter.

I was so very sad to hear from my cousin, Karl Kevin Eisbach, that his dad Dick has passed into Gods eternal arms. Dick was married to my first cousin, Geraldine Pierce, daughter of Uncle Lynn R and Auntie Josephine Pierce. My dad, Lyle Emil Pierce and wife Margaret Ladd Pierce, loved Gerry and her brother George as they were their own. Even tho there was a 12-14 age difference between us cousins I always admired them. George and wife Billie had 3 great little daughters, Deby, Lory and Kathy. Deby is only one remaining. Forgive me if I missed anyone.
So many memories and time has gone too fast. Gerry married Dick when he was stationed at Lowry AFB at the chapel. I ended up marrying an AFC from Lowry. See a pattern? Gerry and Dicks kiddos and George and Billie’s girls have always been in my heart along with our love for our animals and dear pets! God be with you all and we will meet again.
