Randall W. “Randy” Schoenfeld, 70 of Galena, IL passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. He was born November 1, 1951, in Hazel Green, WI the son of Ralph and Velda (Heid) Schoenfeld. He was a lifelong resident of Galena and graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1969. He married Joan Whitmore on February 14, 1985, and together they had two sons, Benjamin, and Nicholas. Randy was an avid outdoorsman and jack of all trades. He enjoyed lending a helping hand, especially in his river community. Randy was a Mississippi river rat his entire life. He maintained a cabin on a river island where he taught his sons to swim, boat, fish, hunt, and chop wood, and… enjoy life. He was a long-time member of the Galena boat club and served a term on the board of directors. He spent his working years at Signcraft Screen Print, Galena, and retired after 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan, two sons Benjamin and Nicholas, a grandson, Benjamin Brian, his mother, Velda Schoenfeld, two sisters, Shari (Kent) Maxwell and JoAnne (Jim) Kourakos, two brother cousins, Rick Heid and Jeff (Jodi) Heid (DJ), and his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. His family would like to thank the many friends who gather under the tree of knowledge. You guys made his retirement years truly happy ones. Randy had a special place in his heart for all of you. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the upcoming boating season. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Galena boat club in memory of Randy.
