Pilar “Chic” Garcia, 87 of Galena, IL and formerly Chicago passed away June 28, 2022. Memorial Mass to be held in Chicago on 24, July 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mercy Home , 1140 W. Jackson Blvd. Chicago Il 60607, entrance on southwest corner Adams and Aberdeen. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born January 23, 1935, in Elgin, TX the son of Pilar Sr. and Rita (Pena) Garcia. Chic grew up in Chicago and spent most of his life there. He retired from Ryerson Steel after forty-two years. Chic was a proud teamster member of local IBT #705. He moved to Galena with his wife of forty-five years Margaret to live in the Galena Territory for their last hurrah. His favorite pastime was fishing right up until his heart condition. He is survived by his wife Margaret, six sons, James (Pat), Joe, John (Bonnie), Jeff, Jack (Paulette), Jerry (Chara), one daughter, Christine (Darren) McNealy, twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-one great- grandchildren, siblings, Ruben “Able”, Irene Garcia-Piccolo, Esther Bereckis, and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mary Sharres, Gloria Knezivich, Rudolph “Rudy,” and Noe “Tony.” The family would like to thank the staff at OSF cardiac care for the loving care they gave him in his last hours, and Dr. Vandigo for the care he provided to Chic during his time of need. The family requests no flowers.
