Patricia “Pat” Ann (Routt) Alspaugh, 73, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at her home in Galena, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at The Galena Territory Association from 4 – 7 PM (200 Territory Dr., Galena, IL). There will also be a time of sharing and fellowship following the 10:30 AM service on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Galena Bible Church. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. Pat was born September 12, 1950, in Wabash, IN to loving parents, John and Betty (Eggert) Routt. She spoke fondly of growing up on the farm with her four siblings, especially all the mischief they got into, and spending time with her cousins. During high school, Pat met the love of her life, David Alspaugh. They married on June 14, 1970, in Peru, Indiana, and raised two children together. Pat’s servant’s heart was evident in her job as a financial planner, but caring for her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and community mattered most to her. Being a mother was one of Pat’s favorite jobs, but nothing compared to being “Nana Pat”. She loved her six grandchildren fiercely and they were the pride and joy of her life. Pat was a doer who loved to be active and volunteer in her community. She lived a full and impassioned life and took pride in serving and taking care of those around her. You could often find her with friends listening to live music, playing cards, golfing, playing pickleball, organizing events, and serving at local organizations. She will be remembered for her generous love and its profound impact on those around her. Pat’s deep faith gave her hope for what was to come. After courageously battling cancer for many years, she was ready to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She gave all glory to God for every day she had and her family sings praise for her full healing in heaven. Pat leaves behind her children, Jason (Candy) Alspaugh and Shannon (Aaron) Spaid, siblings Dan (Janice) Routt and Janet (Bill) Wakefield, brother-in-law Mark (Karen) Alspaugh and sister-in-law Kay (James) Ridenour, and her beloved grandchildren, Breven Harden, Lillian Alspaugh, Reagan Spaid, Charlotte Alspaugh, Makena Spaid, and David Spaid. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, parents-in-law Donald and Norma Alspaugh, and siblings Pam Ranly and Wayne Routt.
