Norma F. Greene age 91 of Galena, IL was called home to heaven to join her husband Ralph on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Norma’s life a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 25, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 PM, Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where a parish rosary will be recited at 1 PM. Norma was born on September 25, 1927, in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Marvin and Velma (Christopher) Wasley. Norma was united in marriage to her “sweetie” Ralph C. Greene on October 4, 1947, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mineral Point, WI. They were blessed with 69 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 9, 2017. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post #2665. Norma moved to Galena after graduating from Rewey High School in 1947. She then worked at Kraft’s; Bechen Bakery and Eaton Corporation. She later found a passion for giving private care to the elderly for nearly twenty-five years until her retirement. After retirement, Norma enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially enjoyed the many trips they took with their children and other relatives. Her family was most important to Norma, she was happiest when she could help them in any way. Norma loved baking all her “special” treats for her eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who will always hold her close to their hearts. Those left to cherish Norma’s memory include her four children, Ralph “Kip” (Jackie), Gary (Jennie), Vickie (Rob) Nash and Darryl (Deanna) all of Galena, her sister, Delores (Bob) Stevens of Linden, WI, her brother, Larry Wasley of Dodgeville, WI, two sisters-in-law, Carol Wasley of Mineral Point, WI and Verda Bowman of Dubuque, IA and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Donald Wasley, sister, Joan Lynch, four sisters-in-law, Elaine Walsh, Mildred Jones, Ruth Arand and Ann Green, six brothers-in-law, Clarence and Leo Green, Bob Walsh, Orville Speaker, Bob Jones and Don Arand, one grandson-in-law, Casey Craugh. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Dubuque and all of her wonderful nurses and caregivers. Dr. Vandigo of Medical Associates for all your care and the cardiac Department of Medical Associates. Also, to her extended family for all their visits, compassion and love. A Norma F. Greene memorial fund has been established. Memorials can also be given to Hospice of Dubuque and St. Mary’s Church, Galena.
