Matthew R. “Matt” Bingham

Matthew R. “Matt” Bingham, 54 of Warren, IL and formerly Galena passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where friends may gather after 10 AM. Burial will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. He was born May 18, 1962 in Davenport, IA the son of Gerald and Helen (Coates) Bingham. Matt graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1980. He was united in marriage to Janis L. Theiss on April 7, 1982 and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2006. Matt was a man of many talents. He enjoyed working with his hands on so many projects some of which were his model planes, helicopters, cars and puzzles. He was extremely talented in the flooring field where he installed hundreds of thousands feet of various floor coverings in many towns and states around the USA. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially listening to the stories his grandchildren shared with him. Matt was a kind-hearted man and was always there to help his family and friends whatever their needs may be. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and golfing. Matt was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He is survived by his four children, Michael (Dana) Dunivan of Shullsburg, WI; Stephanie (Jeremy) Weipert of Calamine, WI; Katrina (William) Longmore of Galena; and Amanda (Jarod) Schroeder of Elizabeth. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother Jason (Penny) Bingham of Galena, three sister’s in-law, Linda Bingham of Toledo, IA, Lynn (Bill) Richard of Platteville and Leeta Theiss of Michigan, a brother in-law, Terry (Eileen) Theiss of Pecatonica, special friend, Amy Lawson of Warren and many nieces and nephews. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Adam, a brother, Shane and a brother in-law, Paul Theiss. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to FHN Hospice and FHN Memorial Hospital Emergency Department and Medical Staff for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Furlong Funeral Chapel for all of the arrangements and their compassion during this difficult process.
