Mary K. Julian, 98, of Galena, IL died on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. According to her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. Mary was born on March 24, 1920, to Joseph and Delia (Hubacher) Harle. She married James F. “Sammy” Julian on August 31, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1987. Mary is survived by her son Roger (Vickie) Julian and her daughter Joyce (Jerry) Rury, all of Galena IL; grandchildren David (Christina Eisbach) Rury of Galena IL, Marc (Natalie) Rury of Cuba City WI, Jill (Jim) Frank of Scales Mound IL, Amy (Troy) Fulton of Minneapolis MN, and Amanda (Aric) Otzelberger of Wheat Ridge CO; and great grandchildren Sydney Rury, Samantha Rury, Mercedes Rury, Faith Rury, Carter Rury, Calvin Frank, Abigail Frank, Lindsay Fulton, Violet Otzelberger, and Silas Otzelberger. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ambrose “Duck” Harle, Clyde “Cluck” Harle, and Frank “Pirate” Harle, her sisters -in-law Ardith Harle, Florence Menzemer, and Kate Harle, and by two infant sons, James and John. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Hendrik Schultz and the 3rd floor nurses at Mercy Medical Center for the kind and loving care they gave Mary during her stay at the hospital.
