Margaret R. “Rosie” Zirtzman

Margaret Rose “Rosie” Zirtzman, 77, of Galena, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena. She was born on March 17, 1941, in Galena, the daughter of Bertram and Violet (Bodell) Harney. Rosie attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Galena High School in 1959. She was a life-long resident of Galena and worked at the Log Cabin Restaurant for approximately 35 years, where she was best known for making exceptional mixed drinks. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the Chicago Cubs, a trip to the casino with family members as well as scratch off lottery tickets where she usually won a buck or two, which made her smile. Rosie was married to Richard “Dick” Fellenzer and they had three children. She is survived by her three children; Mark (Lori) Fellenzer of East Moline, IL; Cindy (Jeff) Maeder of Galena and Cathy (Kevin) Kramer of East Dubuque, IL; three grandsons, Ryan Kuhle, of Austin, TX; Jamison “Jamie” Kuhle of Dallas, TX and Cory Kramer of Dubuque, IA; her two sisters, Marlene (Gary) McCrea, of Benton, WI and Marian (LeRoy) Cook of Freeport, IL; and a brother, Daniel (Marlene) Harney, of Russelsheim, Germany, as well as nieces, nephews, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Fellenzer and Fran Zirtzman, her parents, a brother, Gerald Harney; a sister, Norma Harney; two nieces, Sharon and Debra Harney; and her grandson, Daniel Kuhle. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Dr. Michael Wells and all of the staff at the Midwest Medical Hospital in Galena, Jennifer Trebian and all of the staff at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community, and to Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care and comfort provided to our mother. The family also extends a special thank you to all of our friends, relatives and neighbors for your support. Your care and compassion during this difficult time in the last two months will never be forgotten.
