LoAnn “Ann” Robb

LoAnn A. Robb, 72, of Galena IL known as Ann or Annie to her family and many friends, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her husband Ken by her side on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Finley Unity Point Hospital in Dubuque IA. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where the family will greet friends beginning at 12:30 PM prior to the service. Cremation rites will follow the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Ann was born July 21, 1945 in Bismarck ND the daughter of John and Alice (Timm) Singer. She attended Bismarck High School, graduating in 1963, and Bismarck Junior College, before moving to Kansas City MO where she worked at Waddell & Reed, a financial planning and investment firm. In Kansas City she met her future husband, Ken, and they were married on November 21, 1970. Throughout their 47 years of marriage, Ann played an important role in her husband’s career, traveling extensively together representing The Quaker Oats Company at food industry conventions and entertaining customers. It was the opinion of many that Ann was truly the better one at building strong relationships. Ann and Ken moved several times between New York and Chicago, and on June 11, 1980 their son, Ben, was born in South Salem NY. Unfailingly active in her son’s life, she volunteered to be Director of Vacation Bible School for many years as well as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts. She was involved in many community organizations, especially in music and the arts, including the Lake Forest Symphony and the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. She was an Elder in The Presbyterian Church in South Salem NY. In 2011, following their retirement, Ann and Ken moved to Galena IL. Surviving are her husband, Ken Robb, and son, Ben (Wendi Dibbern) Robb of Galena, one brother, Jerry Singer of Longmont CO, two sisters, Darlene (Bob) Stam of Amery WI, and Mary (Frank) Hosick of Vashon Island WA, one brother-in-law, Bruce (Lois) Robb of Overland Park KS, four nephews, Greg Singer of Longmont CO, Jon Singer of Worcester MA, Brent (Kim) Stam of Amery WI, Graham Hosick of Vashon Island WA, and four nieces, Stacy Morris of Overland Park KS, Kathy (Rees) Webber of Topeka KS, Emily (Todd) Shelley of Leawood KS, and Michelle (Eric) Mudge of Wesley Chapel FL. Her parents, John and Alice Singer, preceded her in death. Memorials, as desired, may be given in memory of Ann to a church or community organization in the Galena area.
