Laurel C. Lawson

Laurel C. Lawson, 70, of Galena, IL passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, IA. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Galena and where friends may call after 9:30 am until time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements with Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena.

Laurel was born May 20, 1948 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Howard and Viola (Veum) Campbell. She married Ronald Lawson on June 3, 1972. Laurel was a 3^rd Grade Teacher in Galena for 34 years until retiring in 2005. She loved teaching and her students, the kids enjoyed the class turtle she had for 15 years in her classroom. Laurel enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, tap dancing, lunches with her friends, and sitting in front of her fireplace. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and the Sinsinawa Choir. Laurel will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald; a son, Luke Lawson of Macomb, IL; brother in-law, Dennis Duewel ; 2 nieces, Arron (Andy) McCurley and Paige Duewel; sisters in-law, Ruth (Lyle) Allen and Phyllis (Brad) Streed; and her special friend, Sheri Mill.

Laurel was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Bonnie Duewel.
