Larry Wienen

Larry J. Wienen, 75, of Galena, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Midwest Medical Center in Galena. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena. Friends may call after 10:30 AM at the church until the time of the mass. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, where a parish rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be accorded graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. Larry was born on September 25, 1950, in Hazel Green, WI the son of Francis and Marcella (Anger) Wienen. He graduated from Galena High School in the class of 1968. Larry served in the United States Army from 1970 until his honorable discharge in 1971. He was united in marriage to Jean Bussan on February 9, 1985, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Larry began driving truck for his dad and went onto work for thirty-fours years for Flynn Ready Mix of Galena until his retirement. Larry loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow. He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Shawn and Ryan, two grandchildren, Abby and Bentley, two sisters, Carol Allendorf and Doris (Rick) Brandt; one brother, Kevin (Michelle) Wienen, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wienen, his brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gary, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Allendorf.

    Larry was the kindest soul! Always a smile on his face even when he wan’t feeling the best. Always how ya doing kiddo. One isn’t to have favorites when it comes to health care but he was one of mine. Jean, my heart goes out to you and the family. Sorry very sorry for your loss.

    Sad to see this. Larry was always a great guy. I remember all the crazy times we had at Grandma & Grandpa s for Christmas. My sympathy to the family.
