Kenneth F. Holman of Geneseo, IL formerly Galena, IL was called home Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Allure of Geneseo Care Center, Geneseo. The funeral service will be held at Noon, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where friends may call after 10 AM until the time of service. The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Galena. He was born in a farmhouse in Hanover, IL on February 8, 1939, the son of Fred and Mary Holman. After Ken graduated from Galena High School in 1957, he joined the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge. After completing his service, he found his way back to settle in Galena, where he met his wife, Patricia Norton. This is where he began his 36 years of service at John Deere Works, Dubuque, IA, finally retiring in 1994. Ken was a fantastic family man. He and Patricia raised four children, Jodi Tillman, Kenneth Scott Holman, David Holman, and Michael Holman. He did his best to make every game, concert, show, or activity they were involved in and was always up for a spirited game of pinochle, euchre, or dominos. Along the way, the family welcomed his daughter Deanna Nickel. In his spare time, he loved fishing and carried a hearty love/hate relationship with the Chicago Bears. He was an initial member of the 1961 Galena Generals, a former member of the American Legion, a 50-plus-year member of the Free Masons, and a 60-plus-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galena for which he served as an Elder on multiple occasions. You were blessed if you ever caught that sly grin or heard the ever-so-popular “No, not me…”. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holman; daughters, Deanna Nickel, and Jodi (Brian) Tillman; sons, Kenneth Scott Holman, David (Lisa) Holman, Michael (Mandy) Holman, brother, Jim (Wendy) Holman; sister-in-law, Deniece Holman, cousin, Dick (Carla) Bartsch, fifteen grandchildren, Brittany L., Jesse, Zachary, Corey, David Paul, Matthew, Andrew, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Brittany H., Alexis, Seth, Lucas, Desirae, and Josh, numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Bob, and John’s wife, Margaret.
