Joshua T. Cocagne

Joshua T. Cocagne, 47, of Apple River, IL passed away from a year and a half battle with cancer on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. A private family service will be held followed by a Celebration of Life from 2 to 5 PM, Sunday, April 28, 2019, in the Clubhouse at Apple Canyon Lake, Apple River, IL. He was born April 26, 1971, in Valparaiso, IN the son of Tyson and Gail (Thackaberry) Cocagne. Josh graduated from MacArthur High School, Decatur IL, with the class of 1989. He attended Richland Community College, Decatur IL, where he earned his associate’s degree. He married Tammy Smith on June 23, 1995, in Decatur and she survives. Josh was a project manager at Lingle Design Group Inc., Lena, IL for the past fourteen years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved Sunday Fundays at Apple Canyon Lake. Josh loved watching all Hornet athletic events and being involved in the Scales Mound and the Apple Canyon Lake communities. He spent his free time fixing up different vehicles, his favorite was the VW Bug. Josh is survived by his wife, Tammy, their children, Mason, Morgan, and Madelyn, his parents Tyson and Gail Cocagne, a brother Wesley (Stephanie) Cocagne, sister-in-law Julie (Randy) Reed, his nieces and nephew, Sam and Anne Cocagne, Haleigh and Ciarra Reed. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Randy and Kathryn Smith. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Medical Associates Oncology Department and Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA, and to friends and neighbors for their continued support. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Autism Speaks in memory of Josh.
