John W. Morehead, 52 of Galena, IL passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 7, 2021, at Meriter Hospital, Madison, WI. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM on June 19, 2021, at the Old Log Church Cemetery, located on Irwin Road 5 miles South of Hanover off of Blackjack Road all are welcome to attend. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born March 17, 1969, in Rockford, IL. Later in life earned his GED and was very proud of this accomplishment. John enjoyed food prep and was a marvelous chef. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and was an avid Chicago BEARS fan. He was affiliated with Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Galena. John is survived by his father, Steven Morehead, and his stepfather, Leonard North, both of Galena, two sisters: Patricia (Terry) Best of Clinton, IA, and Theresa (Tommy) Hardison of Camanche, IA, his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins by the dozens, and his very dear friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Morehead, maternal grandparents, Sidney and Edna White, and his paternal grandparents, Stacey and Doris Morehead.
