John C. Ewers, 55 of Port Wing, WI, and formerly of Galena, IL passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, MN. A celebration of life will be held later. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born February 22, 1968, in Clinton, IA. John was a graduate of Galena High School with the class of 1986. He went on to attend UW-Stevens Point. John loved the outdoors and hunting. He lived his life in stride and was connected to the natural world, finding his peace in the wilderness. Those fortunate enough to know him understood that John was not just a solitary soul, but also a devoted friend.  He is survived by his mother, Nathalie “Nat” Ewers of Galena, his sister, Michelle (Dennis) Cormier of Milton, MA, and three nephews, Zachary, Matthew, and Owen Cormier. John was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Ewers.
