Joan C. Eaton, 92, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. A private family mass will be held at a later date. The burial will take place in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Galena. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena is assisting the family. Joan was born on July 6, 1932, in Chicago, IL, to James and Pauline (Meusel) Ortscheid. She grew up in Galena and attended St. Michael’s School, graduating from Galena High School in 1950. Joan married James Eaton on July 18, 1956, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2003. The couple lived in Pecatonica, IL, until 1970, when they moved to Wisconsin. Joan was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Darlington. She cherished her grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time with her dog. Joan is survived by her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son in 2015, and a daughter in infancy.
