Jeanette E. Snyder, 85 of Galena, IL passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral mass will be 11 AM, Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Galena. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 10 AM on Monday at the church until time of the mass. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 2, 1930 in Hazel Green, WI the daughter of Leonard and Leona (Brant) Wiegman. Jeanette graduated the class of 1949 from Chevy Chase High School, Bethesda, MD. She was united in marriage to Emmett Snyder in 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2013. Jeanette was employed as a secretary for the Savanna Army Depot for twenty years until her retirement in 1994. After retirement she bartended part-time at the VFW in Galena and traveled extensively. She enjoyed cross stitching, bowling, golfing and playing cards. Jeanette was a member of St. Michael Altar and Rosary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque and the Galena Stauss Senior Care Facility. She is survived by her, two sons, Ronald (Jennifer) Snyder of Roeland Park, KS and Rick Snyder of Galena, a grandson, Derek (Colleen) Snyder of Fairway, KS,  two great grandchildren, Henry and Ruby, a brother Keith Wiegman of Galena and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Wally and sister, Gloria. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Jeanette.
