Jean L. Haenert, 84 of Galena, IL and formerly of Scales Mound, IL passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may call after 9 AM at the funeral chapel until time of service. Burial will be in the Township Cemetery, Scales Mound. She was born October 14, 1934, in Scales Mound the daughter of Louis and Myra (Mason) Hesselbacher. Jean graduated from Scales Mound High School with the class of 1952. She was united in marriage to Carl F. Haenert on June 11, 1953, in Scales Mound and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2013. Jean was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzle books, playing cards and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Scales Mound and (FHC) Faith Hope Charity church group of Scales Mound. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Cal) Schafer of Galena, Carla (Dan) Medberry of Davenport, IA, and Paula (Mike) Rogers of Gulf Shores, AL, five granddaughters, Meghan (Matt) Randecker, Abigail (Jerry) Meade and Olivia Schafer, Alexis Medberry and Bryana Medberry, four great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Cora Randecker, Cash and Harlow Meade, a brother in-law, Herman (Judy) Haenert and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Carol. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Crist, the staff at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and kindness during this difficult time.
