Janice A. Wachter, 79, of Galena, IL passed away Monday June 29, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford, IL. Funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where a parish rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. She was born June 1, 1936 in Spring Valley, IL the daughter of John and Mary Catherine (Corgait) Cardani. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Wachter on June 15, 1963 in Oglesby, IL and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1997. Janice was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary and the choir. She is survived by three sons, Bryan, of Scales Mound, IL, Todd of Galena and Steven of East Dubuque, one daughter, Maryanne (Gerald) Bennett of Warren, IL, five grandchildren, Zach Wachter, Tyler and Chase Bennett, Haley and Nicholas Slaats, two sisters, Beverly Evans, of Los Angeles, CA and Elaine (Wayne) Lance of Utica, IL and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
