Helen E. Hudson, 99, of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Prairie Ridge, Galena. According to her wishes, there will be no public services. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born to Arthur “Roy” Metzger and Louella (Bauer) Metzger on July 23, 1920.  She married James H. Hudson on November 1, 1945, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1995. Helen is survived by her daughter Vickie (Roger) Julian, of Galena and her son John Hudson, of Cedarville IL; four grandchildren, Lucas (Patty) Hudson of Inverness IL, Audra Hudson of Freeport, IL, Amy (Troy) Fulton of Minneapolis, MN, and Amanda (Aric) Otzelberger of Wheat Ridge, CO; and five great-grandchildren, James Hudson, Sarah Hudson, Lindsay Fulton, Violet Otzelberger, and Silas Otzelberger. Helen was preceded in death by her husband and her mother in 1928 and her father in 1982. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Galena or the Galena Fire Department.
