Geraldine “Gerry” Rose (Greene) Greiner, 64, of Galena IL passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena and where friends may call after 10 AM, Thursday until time of mass. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where a parish rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Galena. She was born October 3, 1954, in Hazel Green, WI the daughter of Wilfred and Elma (Schuller) Greene. She graduated from Galena High School in 1973. Gerry was united in marriage to her husband of twenty-six years Ronald “Goose” Greiner on May 1, 1976 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2002. Gerry enjoyed several years of softball and bowling. She enjoyed family and friends on holidays and weekend camping trips. She maintained lifelong and loving friendships with childhood friends. For the past ten years, her schedule revolved around her grandson, Brodie, never missing a school or sporting event. Gerry was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Church, Galena IL. She is survived by her best friend and daughter Tracy (Dave) Dahl, of Pearl City IL, one grandson, Brodie Dahl, step-son Kevin (Tamee) Greiner, Rialto, CA, step-grandson Royce Greiner Deployed USN, her siblings, Jeanette Koehler, of Lena IL, LaVerne Greene, of Galena IL, Ray (Lois) Greene, of Solon IA, Wayne (Karen) Greene, of Freeport IL, Loran (Kathy) Greene, of Lena IL, three sisters-in-law, Carol Womack, Shirley North, and Cheryl Bloom and many nieces, nephews and extended family, life-long friend, Margo Dworak, and very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant sister Shirley, sister-in-law, Donna Greene, brothers-in-law, Lyle Koehler and Dan Reynolds, nephew, Larry Koehler, and great-niece, Maddie Greene. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care shown to Gerry.
