Gary L. Krohmer, 74 of Galena, IL passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena, and where family and friends may gather after 10:30 AM at the cemetery. Military honors will be accorded graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born December 7, 1946, in Galena the son of Vincent and Lazetta (Smith) Krohmer. Gary was drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam and served his country until his honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Susan D. Thies, and she preceded him in death on January 1, 1993, and he later married Roxanne R. Benson and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2017. Gary was employed at John Deere Dubuque works until he was laid off, he then went to work for Mount Horeb plastic factory. He later returned to John Deere in Milan, IL where he worked until his retirement. Gary enjoyed watching NASCAR and traveling. He was an avid collector of coins and sporting cards. He was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Foundation. He is survived by his three children, Melissa (Greg) Reynolds, of Bennett IA, Theresa (Scott) Greene and Justin Krohmer both of Galena, two grandchildren Brandy Faber, and Matt Greene, one great-grandson, Timothy Greene, two sisters, Karen (Arthur) Arand and Helen Trost. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouses, a grandson, Timothy E. Greene, two sisters, Doris Krohmer and Nancy Miller, and two brothers-in-law. A Memorial Fund has been established at Illinois Bank and Trust, 971 Gear St, Galena, IL 61036, in memory of Gary.
