Francis “Frank” W. Molitor, 82 of Warren, IL passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his daughter’s home in Machesney Park, IL. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Funeral service will begin at 4 PM following the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. He was born May 7, 1935 in Galena, IL the son of Francis and Florence (DuBord) Molitor. Frank enlisted on June 12, 1952 in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1956. He retired from Ingersoll Milling, Rockford, IL after 20 plus years of service. After retiring, he moved to Warren where he owned and operated three taverns. Frank was certified through the State of Illinois as a Master Gardener. He loved the outdoors, gardening and caring for his plants. Frank was a member of the American Legion, Warren. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and will sadly be missed. He is survived by his daughter, Jorene (John) McFarland of Machesney Park, IL, two grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Beardsley of Loves Park, IL and John McFarland II of Machesney Park, one great grandson, Cooper Beardsley, two brothers, David (Cookie) Molitor and Lawrence (Joyce) Molitor, two sisters, Sally Frazer and Betty Schetgen, his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard Molitor and Thomas Smith, two sisters, Florence “Dolly” Heinle and Jeannie Hess, a nephew, Lawrence Molitor and his life-long friend, Frances J. Molitor. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his “best buddy” and neighbor Eli McNutt. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Post of Warren, IL in memory of Frank.
