Ethel “Toody” Harris, 76 of Galena, IL passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral service will be 7 PM, Friday, September 21, 2018, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena and where friends may gather after 5 PM until time of service. Burial will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Cremation rites have been accorded. She was born August 17, 1942, in Galena the daughter of Wesley and Pearl (Green) Bartell. Toody was united in marriage to her husband of fifty-nine years Dean Harris on March 21, 1959, in Galena and he survives. She was a housewife for many years before working at the Palace Motel and Signcraft Screenprint, Galena where she retired. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans. Toody was an avid Cubs fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Dean, a daughter Cindy (Tom) Rogers of Scales Mound, IL, a son, James of Galena, three grandsons, Jamie (Heather) Harris, Cory and Derek (Heide) Rogers all of Scales Mound, three great-granddaughters, Kylie Harris, Alice and Ellie Rogers all of Scales Mound, two sisters, Kay (Al) Smith of Chadwick, IL and Carol Salt of Hanover, IL, her best friend of sixty-three years, Beverly Haase of Galena and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Delores Basten, Helen Dasch and Caroline Kern, a brother, Dick Bartell, three brother-in-law’s, Jim Basten, Sonny Dasch, and Jerome Kern, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Bartell. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Manor Care, Dubuque, Galena Stauss Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care during Toody’s final days. Also a very special thank you to her niece Tracy Frank for all of her support and guidance to “Toodles” and her family.
