Elsie Ruth Quinn, aged 86, of Galena, IL and formerly Palatine died peacefully on July 27, 2016 after a brief battle with brain cancer. Funeral mass will be 11 AM, Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena and where friends may call after 10 AM at the church until time of mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was born on September 10, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Axel and Nancy (Lind) Carlson. She was married to husband George Quinn for 51 years. They retired to Galena after raising their family in Palatine, IL. Elsie loved working in her garden and watching the variety of wildlife that crossed her path at her beautiful home in Galena. In addition to raising their three children, she enjoyed working with the local gardening club in Galena and meeting her friends for coffee or lunch. All who visited enjoyed Elsie’s hospitality and outings in the historic Galena area. She is survived by two daughters Deborah (Philip) Charapata of Libertyville, IL and Kim Kamphouse of Wauconda, IL, and son George (Lucy) Quinn of Algonquin, IL, fourteen grandchildren and twelve (almost 13) great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by husband George, two sisters Eleanor and Evelyn and brother Edward. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W.
