Elizabeth “Nonny” Murphy, 95 of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born December 12, 1924, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Fredrick and Fanette (Gavoni) Mugnai. Elizabeth attended the Ray Vogue School of Design and the Art Institute both of Chicago IL. She was united in marriage to William Murphy on June 2, 1945, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2002. Nonny was happiest working and greeting people At Home in Galena. She played Mrs. Santa Claus every year at the store during the living windows. She is survived by three sons, Bill (Patti) Murphy, of Galena, Patric (Sheila) Murphy, of Cary, IL, and Dennis (Ellen) Murphy, of Hanover Park IL, a daughter, Betsy Murphy, of Mukwonago, WI, nine grandchildren, Kevin (Cara) Murphy, Ryan (Jill) Murphy, Kelly (Mark) Thompson, Libby Peterson, Daryl Peterson and Amber, Chelsea (Matt) Dykas, Sean Patric Murphy, Stephanie (Seth) Wilson, and Allen Murphy and Amy, eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
