Elizabeth “Liz” Kormaniak

Elizabeth “Liz” G. Kormaniak (Vargas) passed away with her family by her side on May 3, 2024. We invite you to join us in celebrating her life, a time for friends and loved ones to gather, share memories, and find comfort in each other. The celebration will be held at 2 PM, July 20, 2024, at Crossroads Community Church, 900 Galena Square, Galena, IL 61036. Please arrive after 12:30 PM to have time to connect before the service. We encourage you to stay for the service; a luncheon will follow immediately.  Liz, a graduate of Kelly H.S. Chicago, IL, and South Suburban College, South Holland, IL, was united in marriage to her husband of forty-five years, Charles Kormaniak, on January 13, 1979, in Chicago. She worked as a pediatric nurse at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, and served as a paraprofessional at Walsh Elementary School in Lockport, IL. Liz’s passions included traveling, making jewelry, helping others, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Brandy (Dave Gergescz) Kormaniak and her son, Blake (Kristy) Kormaniak; four grandchildren, Jaden, Olivia, Everly, and Gabriel Gergescz; two sisters, Theresa (Robert) Nowak of Homer Glen, IL, and Martha (Richard) Schmitz of New Lenox IL, a brother, David (PerrySu) Vargas of San Antonio, TX, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Delfina (Alanis) Vargas, and a brother, Gilbert Vargas.
