Dorris L. Grau, 98 of South Elgin, Il and formerly Galena, passed away, Sunday, February 27, 2022. A funeral service will begin at 1 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may call after 11 AM until the time of service. The burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Scales Mound, IL. She was born January 19, 1924, in Scales Mound the daughter of Carl and Lorraine (Hess) Schoenhard. Dorris graduated from Galena High School. Following graduation, she attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She was united in marriage to Orville “Bud” Grau in 1945 in Galena and moved to New York City where Bud finished his naval military service. After being discharged they moved to Chicago and began their family. Dorris worked in Ravenswood Hospital, Chicago for many years before moving to Galena. She was employed by Happy Joe’s, Galena for over 21 years as “the game lady”, greeter, among her various other duties. She is survived by her children, Jean of TN, Nancy (Russell) of FL, Robert (Donna) and Larry (Lisa) both of Galena, Betty of Bensenville IL, and William (Debbi) of Geneva IL, and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
