Dorothy “Dottie“ Swanson 88 of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at MercyOne, Dubuque, IA. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born Dorothy Tromans on January 9, 1933, in Erie, PA. Dorothy married Richard L. Swanson and together they had five children. Dottie worked most of her life in the banking industry and later at McGraw Hill. She loved the beach, cool cars, horseback riding, traveling, fly fishing, and adventure in any form. She is survived by her five children, Cynthia (John) Sedan, Dorothy (Steve) Curts, Christine (James) Scott, Richard (Jennifer) Swanson and Nancy (Ryan) Rasmussen, eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Berning, Bonnie (Pam) Sedan, Andrew (Sarah) Curts, Randall (Jennifer) Curts, Kelly Curts, Matthew (Laura) Scott, Jack, and Brooke Rasmussen and one great-grandson, Colin Berning.
