Dorothy A. (affectionately known as “Dot”) Sanderson, 91 of Galena, IL passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Congregational Home, Brookfield, WI. A Funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena where friends may call after 9 AM until the time of mass. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born August 29, 1931, in Benton, WI the daughter of Wilbert and Velma (Phoenix) Heim. Dot graduated from Benton High School. She was united in marriage to Edward “Ed” C. Sanderson on January 27, 1951, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Benton, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2018. Dot enjoyed being a homemaker and a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, shopping, roller skating, gambling, and bus trips. Dot is survived by her three children, Pam (John) Bloor, Brad (Sukcha) Sanderson, and Becky (Randy) Leifheit, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, a brother, Rick Heim, three sisters-in-law, and her nieces and nephews. The family requests donations to the VFW Auxiliary of Galena and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Dot.
