Donald W. Wills
Donald William Wills, 85, of Galena, IL passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena and where friends may call after 10 AM until time of mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded at graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where a scripture wake service will be held at 4 pm. He was born October 21, 1933 in Sinsinawa, WI the son of Charles and Catherine (Freese) Wills. He grew up on the family farm in rural Galena and attended the local Milbrig School. Don graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1952. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1954 and served in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1956. On June 1, 1957 he married his wife of sixty-two years Joanne Feldermann and she survives. He worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for thirty years until his retirement in 1990. In 1966 he purchased his father in-laws farm and farmed for many years until turning it over to his eldest son Randy. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and cherished his time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, of Galena, one daughter, Terri (Tom) Richardson of Galena, two sons, Randy (Joyce) of Galena and Ricky (Karen) Wills of Benton, WI, seven grandchildren and one step-grandchild, twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters, Eileen Keuter of Dubuque and Betty (Richard) Cogan of Galena, three sister in-laws, Judy and Mary Wills, both of Galena and Lorraine Wills of Hazel Green, WI, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Eldon, Laverne, Merlin, Lee and Chuck, a great grandson, Tylor White-Richardson and a brother in-law, Dale Keuter.
