Danielle “Dany” Mraz

Danielle “Dany” Mraz (née Jeannides) died peacefully at her home on June 11, 2020, in Galena, IL at the age of 73.  In accordance with state and federal guidance on gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having any public services. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She graduated from Taft High School in 1965 with a diploma and attended the University of IL Chicago for one year. She married Wayne Mraz in 1967 whom she met at a dental office where Wayne was working at the time. Dany and Wayne started a family and eventually moved from the Chicago area to pursue a dream of raising Angus cattle. After moving to Galena to start a cattle farm, Dany opened a gift shop on Galena’s Main Street. After moving off the farm in 1984, Dany began working selling real estate in the Galena Territory when the development began and enclosed her career with Eagle Ridge Realty. Dany was a very devoted mother and wife, talented French and Greek cook, and had a natural green thumb for vegetable and flower gardening. She had the gift of encouragement and used that gift to encourage her kids to pursue their goals; she never doubted them. Her passion was enjoying time with her family, her miniature doxies, fishing, and she was a huge Chicago sports fan of the Bears, Bulls, and White Sox. Dany is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Wayne, her son, David (Lori) Mraz and her grandchildren Lukas, Daria and Joseph Mraz all of Roca, NE, and daughter, Andrea (Major Timothy) Grass, and granddaughter Alexandria Grass all of Galena, her sister, Gabriel “Toby” Jeannides of  Galena and a brother, Paul (Irene) Jeannides, two nieces, Jill Parianos and Lindsey Casey and a nephew, Steven Jeannides, all of Lake Forest, IL. The family would like to thank all of Dany’s caregivers for her care from the University of Iowa Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Galena Medical Center, Luther Manor, Hospice of Dubuque, and her loving husband Wayne.
