Corrine M. Sertle, 84 of Galena, IL died Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community. Funeral service will be 7 PM, Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena and where friends may gather after 5 PM until time of the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at a later date. Corrine was born January 5, 1935 in St. Donatus, IA the daughter of Julius and Viola (Morrett) Knautz. She was united in marriage to Max Sertle Sr. on May 3, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1997. She was employed at the Galena Hospital and Micro-Switch, Galena until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and watching her beloved Cubs and Bears. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her seven children, Richard Sertle of East Dubuque, IL, Paula (Philip) Soppe, Patty (Bob) Nolan, Dan (Ann) Sertle, Jackie (David) Frank all of Galena, John Sertle of Wisconsin and JoAnn Woodall of Clearwater, FL, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and one due in September, one great-great granddaughter, three sisters, Madonna Beyer, Shirley (Arlen) Morris, Sandy (Ronald) Kracke, two brothers, DuWayne and Julius Knautz and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Max Sertle Jr., a grandson, Nick Pieper, granddaughter, Jennifer Nolan, three brothers, LaVerne, Mylo and Ronnie Knautz, one sister, Phyllis Knautz, a brother in-law, Bill Beyer, four sister in-laws, Diane, Rita, Margaret and Lila Mae. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
