Colleen “Coke” Schleicher
Colleen “Coke” Holland Schleicher, died on September 6, 2024. Colleen was born on January 2, 1937, in Galena, Illinois, the daughter of Verne and Aleath (Heller) Holland. She attended St. Mary’s School, Galena High School, and Bayless Business College. She married Charles Schleicher on December 26, 1955. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2005. Returning to Galena with her family after more than 20 years of living in California, Colleen worked for Tri-State Tours until retirement. She traveled to all 50 states and dozens of countries during that time. She was an avid reader, and quilter, and enjoyed her many flowers and hosta gardens. Colleen is survived by her children, Dan (Angie) Schleicher, Don Schleicher, and Deb Schleicher. Granddaughters Connie (Mike Wasson) Pladson, Sandra (Matt) Wienen, and Kelly (Jeremy) Hall; step-grandchildren, Brittany (David) Middendorf, Amanda (Trevor) Schlegel, and Emily (Jonathan) O’Sullivan; great-grandchildren Hannah Colledge, Sawyer and Blake Wienen, Cadence and Bowyn Hall, step-great-grandchildren, John Middendorf, Harper, Issac, and Ranier Schlegel, Casey, Conner, and Cody O’Sullivan; her sister, Barbara Stephens, and sister-in-law Clarice Holland, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verne and Aleath Holland, her husband, Charles Schleicher, her brother, Wayne Holland, and her brother-in-law, Charles Stephens. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A committal service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena. The Furlong Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Galena Foundation or St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital.
