Christopher G. Hartung, 32 of Dubuque, IA died unexpectedly Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 7 PM, Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena and where friends may gather after 5 PM until time of service. Burial will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Christopher was born in Dubuque on July 16, 1983 to Carl Joseph Hartung and Ingeborg “Peggy” Rosenthal and was happily welcomed by his parents and his sister and brother. Christopher loved playing video games, getting together with friends at the park for grill outs, and many other outdoor activities.  He truly enjoyed walking and playing with his dog, “Lucky” at the dog park. Christopher is survived by his two sons, Jared Cornwall and Trenton McCarthy, his mother, Ingeborg “Peggy” Rosenthal, his sister, Valerie (David) Sprank and their children, Mercedes, Monte, Miata, Milan and Montana,  his brother, Adrian Hartung and his daughter Miranda, his paternal grandmother, Marcella Hartung and many aunts and uncles.  Last, but not least, his buddy and best friend, “Lucky”. Christopher will be joining his father, Carl Joseph Hartung, maternal grandparents, John and Ingeborg “Irene” Rosenthal, his paternal grandfather, Joseph Hartung and his namesake, Uncle Gary Hartung in heaven. Christopher always had a big smile on his face and was a very friendly, thoughtful, helpful loving son, brother, father and friend.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Christopher will live with all of us forever in our hearts and memories.
