Carl David Houy 79, of East Dubuque, IL and formerly Galena, died surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, after an unexpected illness at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, IA. Funeral service will be 11:30 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Citizens Cemetery, rural Scales Mound, IL. Friends may call after 10:30 AM on Thursday at the cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions social distancing and masks are required. The family asks that friends and family wear their favorite sports team attire to the service. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 8, 1940, in Galena the son of Harry and Agnes (Westemeier) Houy. He loved the river and spent many hours fishing and was a dedicated Packer fan all his life. His greatest moment in his life was when he met Bart Starr. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Bahr, son, David (Seanna) Houy of Ogden, UT, daughter, Chris (Dan) Wand of Galena, grandson Nick Wand and granddaughter, Katelynn Wand of Galena, two step daughters, Julie (Tom) Spillane of Cuba City, WI, Angela (Bill) Drake of Bloomington, IL, one stepson, Brian (Michelle) Bahr of Dubuque, IA,  four step grandsons, Joe (Hollie) Brown of East Dubuque, Adam (Kari) Brown of Oregon, WI, Austin (Maggie) Drake of N. Carolina, and Brett Drake of Bloomington, IL, two brothers, Jim Houy, of Freeport, IL and Bob (Theresa) White, of Galena. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and a stepson, Mark.
