Bruce Daniel Dean, 73, of Galena, IL passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2026. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation and spreading of his ashes will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born on December 17th, 1952 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Douglas F. Dean and Julia C. (Machamer) Dean. He was an avid collector of antiques and owned the antique mall, Tin Pan Alley, for many years in Downtown Galena. As part of his antique store he also had a small museum he called “The Museum of Marvelous Inventions of Recorded Sound.” He was enthusiastic and motivated to share his knowledge of the early days of recorded sound. His favorite antique piece he owned was a “Philco Predicta television” from the 1950’s as it reflected the “modern space-age era of the 1950’s.” He took pride in his extensive collection of Victrola’s (phonographs). He also enjoyed fishing, music, history, and science fiction. He was always willing to chat with visitors to the shop and discuss the history of his antique collection and Galena. His store, Tin Pan Alley, has been a destination for tourists visiting Galena for decades. He was generous to his family and friends. He is survived by his brother Brian Dean and nieces Christy, Karla, and Marisa. As well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eldest brother, Boyd Dean and sister, Janet Dean. He will be missed and his legacy and contributions to the Galena antique community will last for many years to come.
