Brenda C. Dowell, 61 of Scales Mound, IL passed away unexpectedly and joined her daughter, Aimee, in heaven on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, IL. Private family services will be held at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. She was born May 22, 1961, in Kentucky.  Brenda grew up in the Kentucky/Indiana area prior to moving to the Midwest.  She was united in marriage to Dean “Doc” Dowell Sr. on November 19, 1980.  Brenda enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom until later when she joined the health care field.  She worked in Shullsburg, Sinsinawa Mound, and the Galena Nursing Homes. The pride and joy of Brenda’s life was her family.  She is survived by her husband, Dean “Doc” Dowell Sr., of Scales Mound, two sons, Dean (Laura) Dowell Jr. of Galena, and Ben (Becky) Dowell of Scales Mound, two grandchildren, Riley and Hallie, her mother, Helen Carroll, stepdad, Virgil Carroll, and her brother, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Aimee Dowell, her father and mother-in-law, Rollin (Ramona) Dowell, and a sister, Norma.
