Benjamin R. “Ben” Weimer, 38 of Galena, IL died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 20, 1982, in Merrillville, IN. Ben graduated from Hinsdale Central High School with the class of 2001. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 2005. Ben also achieved an associate degree in fire science. He was united in marriage to Stacey Turchaney on September 24, 2015, on a beach in Hawaii and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2019. Ben previously worked for Dick’s Sporting Goods and was currently employed by the Galena Territory Security Department. He was an active member of the Galena Territory Fire Department and previously served for the Batavia and North Aurora Fire Departments. Ben was an avid photographer. He is survived by his son, Aiden Weimer of Galena, his parents, Michael (Tracy) Milz of Galena, his brother, Allen (Sharon) Weimer, their children, Emma, Samantha and Tommy Weimer all of Sycamore, IL, his grandmother, Patricia Milz of Galena, aunt and uncle, Richard (Tina) LeBlue, their children, Drew and Jenna LeBlue all of Eola, IL.
