Russell Albert Bartell, 61, of Platteville, WI, and formerly of Galena, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 5, 2025. A celebration of life will be held later. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena is assisting the family. Russ was born in Galena on September 17, 1963, to Richard and Charlotte (Schultz) Bartell. He attended Galena High School and had been employed at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena for many years. Russ enjoyed fishing. H, Scott (Cindy) Bartell of Benton, WI, John “Barney” Bartell, and Roger (Jennifer) Bartell, all of Galena; his sister-in-law, Lisa Bartell of Potosi, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jay and Kyle.

im so sorry for your loss. i often talked to russ at the ski hill. i always thanked him for making such wonderful snow. (even when it was mother natures doing). he was always positive and happy. i liked him. i am just one of those ski bums for the last 50 years. my three kids liked him too.
