Richard Sertle

Richard “Rick” Sertle, 71, of East Dubuque, IL, and formerly of Galena, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Midwest Care Center in Galena. A funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, where friends may gather after 5 PM. Burial will be later. He was born on March 14, 1954, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Max Sr. and Corrine (Knautz) Sertle. Rick graduated from Galena High School. He then worked for Kelly Springfield Tire for 30 years before retiring. He is survived by a son Jestin (Gerry Lou) Sertle of East Dubuque, five grandchildren who he was very proud of, Jestin Jr., Eben, Gavin, Aspen and Karin Sertle, four sisters, Paula (Philip) Soppe, Patty (Bob) Nolan, Jackie (David) Frank, all of Galena, and JoAnn Woodall of Clearwater, FL, a sister-in-law, Ann Sertle of Galena, numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dan, Max Jr., and John Sertle, a nephew, Nick Pieper, and a niece, Jennifer Nolan.
