Marlene Bastian

Marlene C. Bastian, 87, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Galena, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Ennoble Manor, Dubuque. Funeral services will be held at Noon, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where friends may call after 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Galena. She was born on November 2, 1936, in North Buena Vista, IA the daughter of George and Iola (Cook) Dix. She was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Bastian on August 3, 1963, in Dubuque and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2014. Marlene enjoyed crocheting, painting ceramics, playing cards, and camping. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Bastian of Des Plaines, IL; one son, Tim (Lisa) Bastian of Waconia, MN; two granddaughters, Christina and Alyssa (John Lara) Bastian; a brother, Donald (Cindy) Dix, three sisters, Fay (Gene) Hansen, Cindy (Jeff) Hanson, Mary Jean Koeller, three sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, sister, Joan Dix, and four brothers, Jack, Tom, Ken, and Roger Dix, and a brother-in-law, Carson Koeller. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Carolyn Dausner and the staff at Ennoble Manor.

    I’m sorry to hear of Marlene’s passing. I always enjoyed when Tom and Marlene would come out or we would go into their house to play cards. Deepest sympathy to Tim, Lisa, Judy and entire family.
